“Weathering the Storm” is a faith based career ministry of Fields Chapel United Methodist Church in Canton, GA
What is our purpose? The purpose of this ministry is to help job seekers …so, if you live in or near Cherokee county GA and are unemployed, underemployed or unhappily employed than you have come to the right place! Our goal is to help you navigate the difficult and stressful journey called job search.
What do we offer? This ministry periodically provides a one day “Quick-Start” workshop designed to give you everything needed to begin an effective job search campaign the next day-regardless of the type of work you do.
We also offer bi-weekly support group meetings to provide ongoing moral support, plus opportunities to practice resume writing and critique, interviewing techniques and other job search related activities, in a supportive, faith based environment.
What happens at our workshop and meetings? The one-day “Quick Start” workshop teaches important strategies to quickly find the work God designed for you. It covers a variety of topics such as Managing the Stress of Job Loss and Job Search, Finding Your Ideal Job, Career transitions, The Most Productive Job Search Strategies, Development of a Job Search Action Plan, Writing Cover Letters and Resumes, Portfolio Development, Winning the Interview Game, Salary / Compensation Negotiation…and much more !!
The Bi-Weekly Support Group Meetings contain several elements such as Networking, Devotionals related to job search and Small break out groups where we practice resume writing, interviewing, computer tips, etc… These meetings will also contain a relevant “focus topic of the day” lead by the facilitator or a guest speaker.
Other Information: This ministry is based on the best practices of other faith based career ministries across the USA. All workshops and meetings utilize a 16 module curriculum which is provided to participants without a fee. We WILL, however, accept monetary donations by anyone wishing to help cover the cost of materials. Attendance at a “Quick Start” workshop requires PRE-REGISTRATION
